Couples Therapy Counselling Service

Couples therapy, or marriage counselling, is for those couples who are in a relationship, whether married or not. The purpose of therapy is to improve the couples’ relationship or to help them decide whether to stay together or separate. In this form of therapy, the focus of treatment is on the “couple” although individual psychological issues of one or both parties can be addressed separately in individual therapy.

Therapy often includes sessions designed to improve problem solving, build communication skills, and identify life goals and relationship responsibilities. Other common issues include infidelity, financial problems, illness and other life changes, and anger.

Depending on the level of distress in the relationship, therapy can be short term or over a period of several months.

If you and your partner are having problems because every time that you disagree, you end up in a huge argument and resolve absolutely nothing. When the two of you are growing apart because of the constant stress in the relationship. If you have actually thought about leaving your partner, but decide to try couples therapy first, then our therapists at Evölve can help. Once in therapy, you learn that both of you need help with the way that you communicate, and with your problem solving approach. Through learning new communication skills and healthy approaches within the relationship, there is greater potential for the relationship to become healthier again and reduce the risk of separation and divorce.
